Our plants are located near fast-growing residential areas – with easy access north, south, east and west – so we can provide cost-effective solutions to our customers. And our high quality means the homeowner is happy with the finished job – which is, of course, essential to the homebuilder's long-term financial success.

How many people have toured through Europe and been inspired by the ancient architecture? Throughout history Americans have been inspired to recreate these European masterpieces here in the United States.

When Clark Scott and his wife, Kelly, toured the English and Italian countrysides, they fell in love with their castles and had this dream. It was at that point Clark decided that he wanted to bring those styles back to the U.S.

It was at that point Clark decided that he wanted to bring those styles back to the U.S. and make them the foundation of his new Louisville home design. He also made a decision, like many in those ancient civilizations, to build with concrete. And while he admired the strength of these castles that have stood for centuries, he found an easier way to build them: insulating concrete forms (ICFs).

There was no shortage of concrete used on this job, exceeding 1,200 cubic yards throughout construction. To put this into perspective, the average house in the Louisville market uses a little more than 100 yards of concrete. In addition to the large amount of concrete used, there were more than 23,000 square feet of Nudura insulating concrete forms used, with 4,600 square feet of that coming in radius walls. The basement was built using a 12-inch concrete core, the first floor used a 10-inch core, and the second floor was an 8-inch core. The radius turrets were all built with ICFs and were custom made at the manufacturing plant and shipped to the job.

Norton Commons has been one of the premier Louisville developments over the past decade.  Even when nobody was building houses after the great recession, Norton Commons was still moving along at a brisk pace.  Norton Commons has had such success because it breaks the mold of the typical suburban subdivision.  The vision behind this was to provide residents with an environment in which they could live, work and play.

Norton Commons has followed this vision by providing its residents with various construction projects, including three schools, 60 businesses, two pools, a YMCA, apartments, seven parks and a church. Even with all of this already built, the development is still continuing to grow daily. Advance Ready Mix has been providing quality ready-mix concrete to this development since the very beginning. While most of the concrete poured there is fairly basic, we have been a part of multiple insulating concrete form (ICF) homes and a business, one of which (CMTA office building) serves as a laboratory to demonstrate the functionality and cost effectiveness of ICFs and other green technologies

Stamped Concrete

Stamped concrete has been used the world over on a wide range of projects from theme parks to residential patios to impart realistic surface patterns and textures. Stamped concrete can be patterned to resemble brick, slate, stone, tile, wood and various other textures.

One stamp manufacturer has even made stamps to mimic the old stone roads of Europe. While being able to match the appearance of many other materials, stamped concrete has the advantage of usually being less expensive that what it’s trying to match.
